Plain reading
In January 1920 William Allsop, 59, a laborer at a motor works, and his wife Annie, 53, lived in Ward 11 of Allentown with their daughter Jennie (17, born in New Jersey, a department-store saleswoman) and a granddaughter, Jeanette (3½). William gives 1870 as his year of arrival and 1876 for naturalization; Annie gives 1889 and 1895.
Notes
PROBABLE that this is the Mahanoy City household of 1910 and the Annie Parrish of the sons' marriage records (BR5.1 addendum b): William, Annie, Wales and England as birthplaces, and Jennie born in New Jersey agree.
Conflicts noted: Immigration: William 1870 (1920), 1871 (1910), 1889 (1900); Annie 1889 (1920), 1887 (1910). The 1900 date contradicts the later two; the 1881 England census (Annie about 14, Kingswinford) fits an arrival after 1881 only. Naturalization: William 1876 (1920) is before his 1889 "arrival" of 1900; Annie 1895 is a derived date (by his naturalization, not hers), an error or a different system. Annie's age: 53 in January 1920 gives birth about 1866–67 (1910: 43; 1900: 34, b. Oct 1865). Jeanette's parents: father "Wales", mother "New Jersey": a son of William born in Pennsylvania would not give "Wales" for his own birthplace. Not explained; not pursued (granddaughter, born about 1916; mother possibly from New Jersey).
